Tournament Formats

3 teams (U8 Olympic Girls only)

 

Trophies for all teams. Places will not be awarded

 

Each team plays each other two times.

 

4 teams

 

All 4 teams are in 1 bracket

 

The teams play each other in the preliminary round.

 

The top 2 teams after preliminary play face each other in the final

 

5 teams

 

5 teams in one bracket

 

Each team plays two games in the preliminary round.

 

Based on the standings after the preliminary round:

 

            2nd place team plays the 3rd place for a spot in the finals against the 1st place team

 

            4^th place team plays 5^th place team in a in a consolation game for 4^th place.

 

6 teams (except U8 World Cup girls)

 

2 brackets of 3 teams each

 

Teams in bracket #1 play each other in pool play and play one team from bracket #2

Teams in bracket #2 play each other in pool play and play one team from bracket #1

 

The winner of each bracket earns a spot in the finals

 

6 teams (Only applies to U8 World Cup girls)

 

6 teams in one bracket

 

Each team plays two games in preliminary/group play

 

After group play, there are two semi finals and a 5^th place game.

 

Based on the standings after the preliminary round:

 

            1^st place team plays the 4^th place team in a semifinal match

            2^nd place team plays the 3^rd place team in a semifinal match

            5^th place team plays the 6^th place team in a consolation match for 5^th place.

 

7 teams

 

7 teams in one bracket

 

Each team plays two games in the preliminary round

 

Based on the standings after the preliminary round:

 

            2nd place team plays the 3rd place for a spot in the finals against the 1st place team from the preliminary round.

            4^th place team plays 5^th place team in a in a consolation game for 4^th place.

            6^th place team plays the 7^th place team in a consolation game for 6^th place.

 

8 teams (except boys U13 World Cup)

 

2 brackets of 4 teams each-

 

The teams in bracket #1 play each other in pool play

The teams in bracket #2 play each other in pool play

 

The winner of each bracket earns a spot in the finals

 

8 teams – Boys U13 World Cup Only

 

2 brackets of 4 teams each

Teams in bracket 1 play 3 games against bracket 2

Teams in bracket 2 play 3 games against bracket 1

 

The winner of bracket #1 plays the winner of bracket # 2 in the finals

 

 

9 teams

 

9 teams in one bracket

 

Each team plays two games in the preliminary round.

 

Based on the standings after the preliminary round:

 

            Semi – Finals:

           

                        1^st place team plays the 4^th place team

                        2nd place team plays the 3rd place team

                        Winners of the semi finals play in the finals

           

            Consolation games:

 

                        6^th place team plays the 7^th place team. The winner plays the 5^th place team.

                        5^th place team plays the winner of the 6^th v 7^th place game.

                        8^th place team plays the 9^th place team in a consolation game for 8^th place.

 

11 teams

 

11 teams in one bracket

 

Each team plays two games in the preliminary round.

 

Based on the standings after the preliminary round:

 

            Semi – Finals:

           

                        1^st place team plays the 4^th place team

                        2nd place team plays the 3rd place team

                        Winners of the semi finals play in the finals

 

            Consolation games:

 

                        6^th place team plays the 7^th place team. The winner plays the 5^th place team.

                        5^th place team plays the winner of the 6^th v 7^th place game.

                        8^th place team plays the 9^th place team in a consolation game for 8^th place.

                        10^th place team plays the 11^th place team in a consolation game for 10^th place.

 

12 teams

 

4 brackets, each with 3 teams

 

Each team plays the other teams in its bracket one time.

 

The first place team from each bracket makes the semi finals.

 

The second and third place teams from each bracket play a consolation game.
